Transport railway equipment is the on-demand transport / towing, driving, shunting and parking of railway equipment throughout the Netherlands. This usually happens in the context of re-deployability or demolition. Railway equipment is understood to mean: trains, trainsets, (Royal) carriages and locomotives. The equipment that has to be moved usually does not have a valid deployment certificate and therefore the journeys are more complex than a 'regular' journey, where equipment with a valid deployment certificate, for example, must be moved. Reasons for not having a valid deployment certificate may be that the rolling stock is no longer being serviced, the train composition deviates from the deployment certificate (“half” trains), parts have been removed from the rolling stock. The services to be provided include shunting, transfer rides and condition rides of railway rolling stock. The contractor must provide a locomotive including a driver for this purpose.
