Varanger Kraftnett has been granted a licence for the construction and operation of the New Smelror transformer station. Ref. resolution: NVE 201305584-11

A building with a footprint of approx. 460 m² is planned to be constructed. The building has 1 floor, with sunken culverts for cables. Sloping roof construction with varying inside ceiling heights from 3.5 m to 6.9 m.

The roof is to have 2 levels, 1 over the side building and 1 over the transformer cells. Light roof elements are planned to be laid on top of concrete walls and steel constructions. The side building is to have outer walls of insulated stud-work on a concrete parapet. The internal transformer cells and fire dividing walls are to be constructed out of reinforced concrete.
