3431/AMRC/MY/22 Modification of 16 kW Disk Laser Manipulation

The University of Sheffield wishes to invite tenders for a Modification of 16 kW Disk Laser Manipulation on behalf of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, Catcliffe, South Yorkshire.

The major issue of current laser cell is the movement. The gantry and the rotator are not coupled. In addition, the rotator does not have the capability to move quick enough to meet the welding requirements. Based on this fact it is clear that the rotator is not fit for purpose and as such will be removed from the cell prior to the upgradeA new or upgraded movement system is required to ensure that the disc laser is able to meet the requirements for welding/joining waste containers for the nuclear industry.
