The BMWK market development programme is intended to make it easier for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the self-employed in the commercial sector as well as specialist liberal professions and business-related service providers with business operations in Germany to enter new markets and to lead to further successes in export activities.

Business initiations are events for a specific target country and sector (e.g. optics in France/waste management in Poland). As part of a specialist presentation event, interested local companies, administrations, associations and institutions will receive concrete information about the performance of the respective industry in Germany. In particular, German companies have the opportunity to present their products, services and possible areas of cooperation to the foreign trade audience in a short presentation focused on the essentials. The presentation event is intended to provide space for contact conversations between German and foreign participants, as well as include other appealing elements.

The central element of business initiation is the individually prepared contact meetings between German companies for targeted business initiation with potential business partners in the target country. Before the event, target market analyses with comprehensive information about the industry and the market will be developed, which will be made available to participants and also published. The specifications according to Appendix 1_ABD and the guidelines apply to project implementation.
