The project serves the modernization of the Antarctic station and includes the integration of various projects. These must be carried out by professionals with experience in Antarctic construction projects. Due to the difficult climatic and logistical conditions in Antarctica, it is necessary for specialists and technicians to remain at the station for longer periods of time.

The projects to be integrated are necessary for the proper operation of the station. They must also comply with technical and environmental standards. These projects allow for safer and more efficient operation of the station.

Installation of all power generation technology: switchboards, generators, sensors, fuel drip pans, fans, ventilation ducts, piping and CHP system equipment. Electrical integration, support for antenna renovation, new server room: installation of air conditioning systems, preparation of cable ducts for communication, power supply and distribution, installation of electrical and communication cabinets, preparation of the basement.

Construction

Final construction work for the construction site, foundations and pillars. Construction of the metal structure to accommodate the container modules of the A10-A12 to D10-D12 axes and from the E7-E12 to F7-F12 axes. Installation of the container modules and the corridor structures, stairs, anchorages, fasteners, roof structures, internal cladding of the walls and floors in the corridors. Thermal insulation of the container-garage connection (1-6) both on the walls and on the floor. Installation of doors and windows.

New server room

Preparation of the basement floor. Carrying out the installation of air conditioners. Preparation of cable ducts for communication, power supply and power distribution. Installation of electrical and communication cabinets. Working with the DLR planning team to make the best decision on the location of equipment, cables, wires and equipment. Lining of thermal insulation and finishes (walls, roof, windows, doors, windbreaks). Interior fittings: floor, walls, electrical installation of the server room and corridor E3.

Roof and wall

External cladding of the walls and roof with PIR panels. Carry out waterproofing treatment.

MDO-System

Installation of diesel fuel pump-, -bearing-, -filtration and purification systems, as well as their control and automation systems.

Heating system

Integration of the CHP heating system as well as the electric heating system, its control units, automatisms and air heater units.

Belüftungstechnik

Planning and execution of ventilation systems and their ventilation ducts.

7Fire extinguishing system

Installation of the fire alarm system, smoke and temperature sensors and the fire fighting system. Cooperation with the supplier of the inert gas fire suppression system.

I&C technology (measurement and control technology)

Integration of infrastructure control systems for remote measurement, control and regulation. Preparation of technical information such as procedures, software, source code and all necessary information for the necessary control of all installed systems by DLR.

Water supply and sanitation project

Completion of the new reverse osmosis room, installation and integration between the operating wastewater treatment plant of the Martin system and the Teknofanghi plant, including installation of the new sewage discharges, preparation of the odor barrier and the ventilation duct.

Generators

Completion of work on the interiors, ventilation ducts, doors, windbreaks and thermal insulation of rooms 10 and 11 for main generators 1 and 2 and the room for emergency generator 3. Working with the DLR design team to make the best decision on the location of equipment, machinery, cables, ducts and equipment.

Installation of all power generation equipment: switchboards, generators, sensors, fuel drip pans, fans, ventilation ducts, piping and equipment for the CHP system.

Electrical integration

Installation of the main power distribution cabinets, installation of the UPS, installation of the sub-distributors, laying of cables, wiring of all modules and zones of both the power lines and the lighting lines of the infrastructure, installation of sockets and luminaires, installation of the grounding network and its integration with the antenna grounding system.

Support for the renovation of the antenna

Supporting the Vertex team, which was contracted by DLR to carry out the antenna modernisation work.

Preparation of the metal structure supporting the container modules of the A10-A12 to D10-D12 and E7-E12 to F7-F12 axes. Preparation of the floor structure, the roof and walls of the corridor 28-31, the ladders, anchors and fastenings.

Preparation of fittings for the foundations, modular wall parts, preparation of ventilation ducts and, in general, all preparation for the necessary implementation of modernization work.

Engineering drawings and reports

Preparation of the detailed implementation planning (2D and 3D CAD) on the basis of the prepared planning documents and specifications for the modernisation of the DLR Antarctic station "GARS O'Higgins".

Specifications for the construction and integration works.

Planning documents from the suppliers of technical equipment (with updated changes by the DLR project team.

Handover of the detailed implementation planning, technical drawings and documentation to DLR after completion of the work.

Photo Documentation

Weekly photographic records of work and activities in Antarctica and Chile are needed.
