The remote water supply Elbaue-Ostharz GmbH intends to build a stationary replacement grid system for the Torgau-Ost waterworks to maintain a restricted piped drinking water supply in the event of a total power failure across the board (blackout). The goal is to ensure drinking water delivery of 1,000 m³/h. The electrical energy required for this is approximately 1 MW. This energy is to be provided by a combination of a gas engine and generator (gas unit). The fuel is gas from the public gas supply network with a current hydrogen admixture of <= 2%. The emergency power system is intended exclusively for emergency operation and is operated in island mode.
