Description:
VgV Architectural Services | Expansion and conversion of the bus depot in the Lichtental district of Baden-Baden

Stadtwerke Baden-Baden intends to upgrade the existing depot and build an open vehicle hall (carport) with charging ports for 15 buses on the site. The depot is located in the Lichtental district of Baden-Baden at Beuerner Straße 25.

,

Parallel to the expansion and conversion of the Lichtental depot, the construction of a new open vehicle hall with charging infrastructure for 15 e-buses will also be realized on the site of the Busdeport in the Oos district.

It is planned to use the same technical systems for the charging ports at both locations and to exploit synergy effects.

,

For 15 battery-electric buses, a charging infrastructure in the form of e-charging ports is to be set up at both locations. The buses are charged either in Lichtental or in Oos, during the nightly break in operation or during the day as intermediate charging.

,

The planning is based on the Phase 0 report of the planner IBE Ing.-Büro F. Eberhard GmbH dated 28.04.2023. Here, an evaluation of the bus depot and the bus depot was carried out.

,

For the project, we are now looking for planners for object planning, specialist planners for structural engineering, for technical planning for TGA (HLS) and specialist planning for TGA (electrical) as well as a planner for traffic facilities or outdoor facilities by means of a negotiated procedure with a participation competition.

,

For the planning and execution of the project, an architect will be responsible for the work phases

1-8, optional 9 according to HOAI 2021 wanted.

A step-by-step commissioning is planned. In the first stage, work phases 1-3 are commissioned.

On the property at Beuerner Straße 25 there is the depot administration, a workshop building, a paint shop, 2 halls for parking the buses, a social wing for the drivers, a washing hall, a training center and other uses. The property is located in the flood plain. The height for extreme weather events is about 60 cm above street level.

,

After the dismantling of the training center and the disposal station, it is planned to build a laterally open vehicle canopy (carport) as an e-charging port for a total of 15 electric buses on the resulting open space and existing open space. The covered area is approx. 1,130 m². It should be possible to set up the electric buses flexibly. An area is to be provided for 5 articulated buses and 10 solo buses.

,

For the supporting structure of the carport, reinforced concrete columns are to be provided in the outer axes. Suitable fire protection measures should be taken into account. Light strips are to be provided in the roof construction. Due to the fire protection requirements, it should be investigated whether it is possible to apply a PV system. The new charging infrastructure requires the purchase of a separate transformer system.

,

The covered parking facility offers protection against the weather for both the vehicles and the charging infrastructure.

,

The vehicle is fed to the carport from Beuerner Straße to the company premises to the access area of today's vehicle hall from its north side. From there, the carport is approached via a new ramp to be built. The e-buses are parked at the height level of the workshop hall, which is one floor higher than the bus parking halls. For this purpose, a ramp structure is to be erected, which still has to be developed structurally. In addition, the infrastructure for the entry and exit of the buses must be established.

,

The measure is to be carried out during ongoing partial operation.

The expansion and conversion measures of the depot in Lichtental are divided into 6 different sub-measures, which are described as follows, and are to be implemented in construction phases:

,

- Construction of a new open hall with 15 e-charging ports for electric buses

- Replacement of a 2-storey training centre and a 1-storey waste disposal station

- New construction of e-bus workshop, possibly measure due to flood plain

- Reconstruction of the social wing of the driving staff, possibly due to a flood plain

- Conversion of the workshop building

- Conversion of washing hall with washing and lifting technology, possibly measure due to flood area.

,

The workshop building, as an extension to the existing former tram hall, was built in 1959. The building was classified as a cultural monument in 2021 according to § 2 DSchG.

It is a 1-storey reinforced concrete building with a roof construction as a shed roof construction, a span of approx. 35m, consists of a truss arch made of steel, made of bent reinforced concrete cassettes with a standing seam aluminium roofing. Particularly mentioned in the statement on monument protection is the construction of the shed roof with its filigree design.

,

The total cost of the measure (costs of KG 200-700) is estimated at approximately € 22,385,000 net. Of this, the costs of KG 300 and 400 for the new construction of the charging ports are estimated at €2.56 million.

,

First of all, the measure is to be implemented in Oos, so that during the conversion and expansion of the depot in the Lichtental district, some of the buses can be handled via the bus depot in the Oos district of Baden-Baden. Partial operation of the Lichtental site must be ensured.

The measure is funded in accordance with § 2 ÖPNV and § 5 of the State Municipal Transport Financing Act (LGVFG) of the state of Baden-Württemberg.

The scope of the measure must be adjusted depending on the available funding. This may also require a corresponding reduction. The planning of the measures is to begin immediately after the contract has been awarded.

Completion of the measure is scheduled for 2028.

,

The negotiations are expected to take place on 23 and 24.01.2024.

,

The EU tenders of the VgV procedures for the conversion and expansion of the bus depot in the Oos district of Baden-Baden are the subject of a separate tender, but will be carried out in parallel with this procedure. Comparable planning services are put out to tender by means of an EU tender.
