As part of the model project to strengthen public transport "harzbewegt" (funding call 2022), HVG Halberstädter Verkehrs-GmbH intends to upgrade the traffic light systems in Halberstadt in the period from 2023 to 2025 to the extent that public transport preferential treatment, i.e. vehicle-to-infrastructure communication to LSA, will be converted from analogue radio to digital radio in the future.
The procurement of 11 Road-Side-Units (RSU) and 17 On-Board Units (OBU) is planned. To connect the RSU, 2 traffic light systems (LSA) will be fundamentally modernized. At the same time, 9 existing traffic lights will be upgraded.
The OBUs are to be installed on all vehicles in regular service, i.e. on 5 low-floor trams and 10 low-floor buses. The delivery, cabling, installation and set-up of the interface with the on-board computer have to be realized. The connection to the IBIS coach (VDV 300) must be established. The possibility of entering via the on-board computer (e.g. course number) must be realized.
Road-Side-Units (RSUs) are to be upgraded at 11 traffic lights. A total of 2 out of 11 systems are still equipped with outdated Siemens control systems and equipment, which require modernization according to the performance description (control unit, signaling device, detection of public transport and IV, VTU). As a rule, the existing cabling must continue to be used (no cable duct system available) or supplemented if necessary.
The 2 LSAs, which are to be fundamentally revised, a cable duct system is being built for the visually impaired signalling to be supplemented. Individual access roads have to be crossed in a closed construction.
