Due to the high emissions from the production and processing of building materials and the fundamental lack of resources, a rethinking of current construction practice will be necessary in the short to medium term. In view of this pressure to act and emerging building practices, there is a danger that in the future development of the construction industry, aspects of building culture, in the sense of creating and maintaining a designed environment perceived as high-quality, will recede into the background. The overarching goal of the construction transition must be to build climate-friendly, sufficient, simple and at the same time sophisticated and affordable in terms of building culture. The question of how the necessary new ways of acting in the construction industry can be linked from the outset with essential and indispensable aspects of building culture will be the subject of the research project.
