In 2020, the SYB Cancer Alliance Board approved its’ digital strategy which included a move towards a single cancer management system - reflecting the flow of cancer pathways across the geography; and recognising the benefit of sharing information in real time between organisations providing care.
Historically, the configuration of each acute Provider's cancer management system was different but included similar functions related to cancer pathway administration (referral management, pathway tracking, MDT management etc.) However, National Cancer Programme deliverables related to other cancer improvements (particularly those related to personalised care and support) also necessitated a digital solution - and therefore the Alliance's 'single cancer management system' strategy also included a requirement to 'level up' functionality as enablers for key transformational and reporting asks.
