The aim of “The Magical Factory” is to increase biogas production in Norway. This occurs by creating optimum environmental and resource value chains for biogas, as well as by strengthening the market position of biogas and bio-fertiliser.
Biogas production, with the utilisation of biogas as fuel for vehicles and for the production of bio-fertiliser, is a good use of wet organic waste and fertiliser. In order to ensure sustainable value chains for biogas and bio-fertiliser, it is important to increase access to substrates (resources), ensure efficient production, have good utilisation of the biogas and bio-fertiliser, that the quality of the bio-fertiliser is sufficient for use in food production and that environmental and resource efficiency of the biogas and bio-fertiliser is well documented and traceable in the market.
The factory's vision is turning food waste and manure into biogas without emitting or leaving waste substances that cannot be used.
Work is being carried out to increase access to substrates from different sectors, analyses and processes are being carried out that ensure the quality of the bio-fertiliser through traceability in the value chain. Systems are also being developed and assessed for using the CO
As a further development of the factory at Rygg, Line 2 shall now be commissioned, which will mean a doubling of the production at the facility. In addition some constructional and technical improvements shall be carried out to take care of the surrounding environment, amongst other things.
A garden centre shall also be built for trial operation of CO
