Description:
Supply of precipitant for phosphate precipitation

The Leutkirch wastewater treatment plant operates a municipal wastewater treatment plant designed for 100,000 PE with upstream denitrification and chemical phosphate precipitation.

Precipitant products with 2-valent (FeCl2) or 3-valent iron (FeCl3 / FeClSO4 / Fe2(SO4)3) can be used for phosphate precipitation.

Two storage tanks made of PE-HD, each with a volume of 30 m³, are available for precipitant storage (total volume 60 m³).

In relation to the active ingredient, the annual precipitant consumption is approx. 2,300 kmol.

The precipitant must have an active substance content of at least 2 moles per litre. The product offered must also be frost-resistant up to a maximum of -15° C (incipient crystallization).

Approved precipitants as a liquid solution are:

Iron(II) chloride (FeCl2)

Iron(III) chloride (FeCl3)

 Eisen(III)-chloridsulfat (FeClSO4)

Ferrous sulphate (Fe2(SO4)3)

The precipitant must be delivered in a tanker (approx. 22 to 26 tonnes) – after retrieval within 5 working days. The quantities delivered must be documented with official weighing slips showing the weights gross, tare, net and the registration plates of the vehicles.

Orders of the iron-based precipitant are made about 1 to 2 times a week.
