The Department of Psychology at Gothenburg University holds several trainings of which the psychology program forms a large part. During the end of training are three clinical courses spanning one semester each where the psychology students undertake psychological treatment/psychotherapy under supervision.

The treatments are mainly aimed at adult patients, but may also include treating children out in other activities. At the department, psychotherapists with a specialization in psychodynamic therapy (PDT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) are also trained. Also during this training, students undertake psychotherapy under supervision. Further, tutor training is also provided at the institution with a focus on CBT and PDT, which means that students are given tutoring on the tutoring they themselves perform during the course.

The university procures consultants who will act as teacher/tutors for the students on these courses where the current courses
