Forus Energigjenvinning(FE) is the largest point emission for CO2 in South Rogaland and has worked on CO2 capture since 2019. The project will help to reduce the region's fossil and biogenic CO2 emissions and is thus an important part of the municipality's and county's climate work.

The owners of FE, the board in FE, and Stavanger and Sandnes Municipalities have a joint goal to realise profitable CO2 capture and storage by 2030. This concerns both existing and new emissions. A project group has been established in Forus Energigjenvinning 2 AS consisting of personnel from Forsus Energigjenvinning, IVAR and Lyse.

Several feasibility studies have already been carried out. In addition an internal pre-concept study has been carried out with the aim of limiting the scope of the work for further work in the project.
