The science city of Darmstadt intends to replace the main building that was built in the 1970s and its extension with a replacement new building, as the two buildings can no longer meet the needs of the current educational concepts. The space required for this new building has a program area of approximately 3,000 m².
The existing classroom wing was built in the 2010s and will continue to exist to support the school in the field of science. As before, the existing building will be connected to the future new building via the two-storey, glazed connecting section.
On an area of more than 6,000 square meters on three floors and basement, classrooms and specialist rooms, offices, corridors and sanitary areas are to be created for around 650 pupils as well as their teachers and pedagogical leaders.
Thus, the following main results come about:
- Insulation of exterior walls
- Ventilated curtain wall
- Exterior ceiling suspension
