The scope of the contract comprises of the civil and installation works in accordance with the procurement documents.

Gas pipeline materials (line pipes, valves, fittings, pig traps, insulation joints) will be provided by the Contracting Authority. Other materials will be provided by the contractor. Pipeline detail design will be provided by the Contracting Authority.

Civil and installation contractor will be assigned as the main contractor responsible for work planning and management on site, site arrangements, applying for all work-related permits and carrying out reviews with landowners.

The project is bilingual. The candidate must employ management personnel with proficiency in Finnish and English language. Especially the personnel administering the site management duties of the main contractor and relation toward landowners must have good command in Finnish language together with proper English skills for the project purposes.

Civil works

The planned scope of works and services to be executed will consist of the following works and services. The scope of works will be defined in detail in invitation to submit tender:

— Digging and back filling of the pipe trench, including rock blasting,

— Trench preparation and backfilling works including necessary materials according to alignment sheets and typical drawings,

— Tie-in related works to existing valve station (digging and back filling, foundations, fences etc.),

— Railway, river and road crossings (HDD, sleeves, boring, open cutting, etc.),

— Trench supporting, ground water lowering,

— Concrete weighting including weights,

— Final pipeline marking posts including installation,

— Access road construction and demolishing works,

— Construction of permanent roads,

— Field drainage modifications,

— Civil works for anode fields,

— Pig trap and vent stack foundations,

— Transportation and unloading services (for transporting materials to and from site),

— As-built measurements,

— Other related works necessary to completing the scope of work.

The planned scope of installation works and services to be executed will consist of the following works and services. The final scope of works will be defined in detail in invitation to submit tender:

— Receiving, handling, transportation and storing of all piping materials,

— Installation and welding of the pipeline, field joint coating works and materials,

— Field cold bending works including bending equipment,

— Inspection and complete testing of pipeline: NTD, hydrotesting,

— Calibration and drying of the pipeline,

— Tie-in works to existing valve station and offshore pipeline,

— Pig trap and vent stack installation,

— Pin brazing for cathodic protection cables,

— Manufacturing book preparation,

— Other related works necessary to completing the scope of work.

Contractor must be prepared to perform the civil and installation works in Finnish weather conditions (ground frost, rain and snow are typical weather conditions during the winter. The temperature may go as low as -30°C.).
