In 2020, the Munch Museum will open new exhibitions in a new building drawn by the Spanish architect firm Herreros Arquitectos. In the new museum, the Munch Museum and the Stenersen collection will be co-located for the first time and shown in the same building and under the same roof. The Munch Museum will showcase a wide selection from the collections in various exhibitions, hereafter referred to as the Collection Exhibitions.
The Collection Exhibitions shall be displayed on a total of 2 598 m
The Munch Museum wants tender offers on exhibition design and architecture for the museum's new Collection Exhibitions.
The contractor shall, in collaboration with the commissioning party, propose or contribute with:
— an overall unified design concept for the Exhibitions of the Collections,
— secondary design concepts for the various sub-divisions of the Exhibitions of the Collections,
— ideas for the staging of the material in spatial solutions, specially built rooms or lesser units, such as display cases,
— sketches in 2D or 3D (to be agreed upon) that visualise the solutions for mounting objects in a room,
— a colour and material palette and blueprint for the use of colour and materials for the exhibition's various elements (walls, display cases, wall texts, etc.),
— graphic design for texts associated with the exhibitions or other promotional texts,
— developing a template for display cases, plinths etc. based on requirement specifications provided by the Museum regarding the choice of materials, as well as technical and aesthetic solutions.
Options are requested for:
— the design of special presentation rooms,
— assistance in planning the lighting and illumination,
— a bid and/or follow-up of a sub contractor in collaboration with the Museum with regard to other exhibition elements that must be produced, such as labels, wall texts and more.
