Material recovery of biowaste

The City of Jämsä's vitality department requests your offer for a material recovery service for biowaste from 1.4.2024 to 31.3.2026.

In addition, the purchase includes a two (2) year option, which the subscriber can exercise.

It is estimated that approximately 1700 t/a of biowaste is generated.

Material-recovered biowaste mainly contains municipal and comparable waste, which means that material-recovered waste is legally the responsibility of municipalities and is biowaste sorted at the place of origin generated in housing.

The transport contract for material-recovered biowaste will be put out to tender during winter 2023–2024.

The material recovery of waste must take place in Finland. In its operations, the provider of a waste material recovery or other treatment service (Service Provider) must comply with the provisions of the Convention, the Waste Act (646/2011), the Government Decree on Waste (978/2021) and other applicable statutes, as well as municipal waste management regulations. The service provider or subcontractor must have the environmental permit required in section 27 of the Environmental Protection Act (YSL, 527/2014) in order to provide waste recovery or other treatment services.
