In the in-house data network of the StMWi, two Cisco Core Switches, two Cisco WLAN Controllers and dedicated access switches are operated for the fail-safe connection of the firewall systems. In addition, so-called WLAN access points (AP) are operated in the meeting and training rooms as well as in selected offices of the StMWi.

The software maintenance of the manufacturer (Cisco Systems) has expired for the above-mentioned components, so that they have to be replaced.

In the offices of the top management (approx. 60-70 rooms) and the offices of the department heads (10 rooms), network access via WLAN should also be available nationwide. In addition, existing APs in a further 25 rooms must also be replaced. As a redundancy for failures, 20 additional APs must also be procured.

The new network components to be procured must be compatible with the central network management of the StMWi "Cisco DNA Center" and the network security solution "Cisco ISE". Thus, only devices from Cisco Systems can be used for the error-free operation of the IT network components that interact with each other.
