By using grid-smart systems and technology, the project aims to utilise a proportion of curtailed wind power to directly power new, efficient domestic heating devices installed in participating properties and operating as a secondary source of heating to existing systems. The project requires a suitable Contractor to supply equipment and all materials, complete the installation and provide and/or honour all aftercare and warranties on the installed equipment. The types of heating devices have been pre-selected and include a variety of technical solutions such as parallel electrical flow boilers, hot water immersion heaters and standalone intelligent Quantum electric heaters, as further detailed in the technical specification. Each installed device also requires a back-up demand measurement meter (or a standard meter + datalogger equivalent).
