Hertfordshire County Council (the ‘Council’) is currently out to procurement for the provision of a children’s and young people’s healthy weight service within Hertfordshire. Further information in regards to this opportunity can be found in II.2.4) Description of the procurement field (OJEU Contract Notice refers).
Organisations wishing to take part in this project are invited to ‘express interest’ which will give access to the full procurement documents in the e-tendering system. Please see VI.3) Additional information for further information.

The Council is seeking to halt the continued rise in unhealthy weight prevalence in children and young people, reduce inequalities and aim for a sustained downward trend. We will draw on the data gathered through the NCMP and the Public Health Outcomes Framework to evidence the changing trend. Multiple interventions at a range of levels and close collaboration with partners and our communities are vital to our success.
In Hertfordshire, we are committed to supporting the Government’s Childhood obesity: A plan for Action: Chapter 2 to promote working together across society to address the obesogenic environment with a renewed focus on the prevention of ill health.
The NHS Long Term Plan identified obesity as one of the five key risk factors for premature death, and therefore a priority ‘modifiable’ area for preventative action. Co-commissioning this service ensures a joined up and systematic approach across the county, allows capacity to be increased, and enables Hertfordshire to deliver a more comprehensive preventative service targeting families with children under 5 years who are identified at risk of obesity.
The estimated total value of the contract is stated in II.1.5) of this notice and is for the initial term inclusive of the approximate value for extensions.
For the avoidance of doubt, the estimated annual value of the contract will be approximately GBP 525 000.
The contract will be awarded for an initial term of 3 (three) years, with the option to extend the contract up to 2 (two) further years.
Please note that the contract requirements will be subject to available financial resources, supplier performance and flexibility to meet changing demands.
Organisations should be aware that due to the nature of the services provided, any contract formed as a result of this procurement process shall be executed as a deed. Organisations should seek independent legal advice on the implications of this prior to submitting their bid, where appropriate.
