At the GSI Helmholtzcenter in Darmstadt a new accelerator facility FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research) is under construction. One of the accelerators in the FAIR complex is the High Energy Storage Ring (HESR), which is in construction under the leadership of IKP-4 of the Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH.
The central experimental installation in the HESR will be the internal target experiment PANDA, which consists of a superconducting solenoid as target spectrometer and a dipole magnet as forward spectrometer. In order to avoid phase space coupling for the stored antiproton beam the effects of the target spectrometer magnet have to be compensated by a solenoid magnet with identical integrated field strength with opposite polarity.
The scope of delivery is a fully remote controlled turn-key system of the superconducting solenoid, including cryogenic supply, with the corresponding power converter.
