Lounavoima Oy is a company founded in 2017, owned by Salon Kaukolämpö Oy and Lounais-Suomen Jätehuolto Oy. The company's task is to build an eco-electric power plant utilizing non-recyclable combustible waste in Salo Korvenmäki and to operate the plant after its completion. Construction of the power plant started in January 2019 and incineration of waste is scheduled to start in January 2021.
Waste fuel for the eco-power plant is mainly collected from seventeen municipalities in southwestern Finland. The municipal owned waste management company Lounais-Suomen Jätehuolto Oy is responsible for the procurement, collection and transportation of waste fuel. The power plant produces both electricity and district heat. The district heating produced by the plant is supplied to the district heating network of the Salo central station and the electricity is sold to the national grid.
Lounavoima Oy is requesting an offer for the removal, treatment and utilization of the ash and slag from the Korvenmäki power plant.
