SBH | As the state enterprise of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg (hereinafter referred to as SBH), Schulbau Hamburg has the task of planning, building, maintaining and managing the school real estate, taking into account school issues, and of the more than 400 schools to the school authority and vocational training (BSB) for rent.
The replacement, which is located on Mendelstraße, is a major restructuring of the site, including centralization of technology. The building will house administrative areas, a vitality kitchen multifunction 300-600VT and a canteen area, as well as specialist rooms. The spacious area of the cafeteria and common area with stage is a ground-floor meeting place. Two large compartments will be built on the upper floor, with a stairwell core with the necessary corridors between them. Heat is generated by district heating, and PV surfaces are built on the roof areas. The new building will receive funding for climate-friendly new construction (KfN) and will be DGNB Gold certified in this context. The chosen load-bearing structure made of wooden beam ceiling with Delta Beam favours the construction period and allows for later conversions as well as the use of sustainable building materials. For the outer shell, a wooden façade is planned based on the adjacent Hamburg classroom.
