Procurement of new light rail vehicles under the name “TW 4000” for the use of vehicles in the light rail system of the Hanover region.

ÜSTRA Hannoversche Verkehrsbetriebe Aktiengesellschaft (hereinafter referred to as ÜSTRA) is the operating operator of public transport in Hanover and intends to award the procurement of new light rail vehicles under the name “TW 4000” in 2022.

A total of 42 vehicles are to be procured in the years from 2022 to 2027. There is an option to purchase 233 additional vehicles (see point IV). The procurement of the vehicles is supported by Landesnahverkehrsgesellschaft Niedersachsen mbH (LNVG) on the basis of a grant certificate for the “promotion of investments to improve public transport (public transport)”. The subject matter of the contract must therefore correspond to the purpose of the grant and the other requirements of the grant decision.

The object of the contract is therefore the procurement and use of new operational and roadworthy light rail vehicles that meet the requirements of people with reduced mobility. The use of vehicles in the light rail system of the Hanover region is intended to help meet the need for transport capacity in public transport and to promote resource- and environmentally friendly public transport in the region. The equipment of the aided vehicles shall be geared to the requirements criteria for use in public transport. The concerns of disabled people and other people with mobility disabilities and the requirements of accessibility must be met as widely as possible. The prescribed technical requirements for the safe operation of vehicles shall be met (e.g. the BosTrab).
