The subject matter of this project is to perform a review on the effectiveness of flight and duty time limitations and rest requirements contained in Annexes II and III of Commission Regulation (EU) No 965/2012, supported by a data collection campaign involving flight crews and using the results of a previous research project.
Follow up research on a previous study on effectiveness of flight and duty time limitations and rest requirements contained in Annexes II and III of Commission Regulation (EU) No 965/2012.
Objectives:
1) Assessment of the impact on aircrew alertness of the following aircrew duty periods;
2) Assessment of the impact on aircrew alertness of controlled rest.
List of Tasks:
1.1 – to perform a review and critique of the state of the art in view of establishing the baseline for the research work, including a description of the research approaches and a list of perceived risks;
1.2 – to define the target aircrew population for the objective and subjective fatigue, sleep, and workload data collection;
2.1 – to define the scope and process for the data collection;
2.2 – to perform the data collection;
2.3 – to analyse the findings from the data collection;
2.4 – to establish safety performance metrics and to benchmark these results set against other reference sources;
2.5 – to merge the results of the current and the previous contract;
2.6 – to analyse the suitability of the examined fatigue mitigation measures;
2.7 – to draw conclusions and recommendations.
