The client plans to convert the old Shell barrel bottling plant into a multifunctional event hall ("K714 cultural refinery"). The historic building is to retain its industrial charm, while state-of-the-art stage technology and a restaurant with a view of the Rhine are moving in. In this context, the client awards the trade VE 156 - metal-glass elements interior.
The trade VE 156 - metal-glass elements interior is part of the construction project Kulturraffinerie K714.
The listed former barrel bottling hall on the Rhine promenade will be converted and extended into an event hall for approx. 3,800 visitors.
The existing building is one of the first reinforced concrete hall buildings in Germany, a hall construction made of reinforced concrete trusses with purlins that span between the trusses and on which a StB ceiling lies. It is one of the early reinforced concrete/reinforced concrete buildings at the beginning of the 20th century. The hall currently covers approx. 6,000 square metres plus an additional 650 square metres of canopies. The clear ceiling height in the halls is between 4.50m at the transitions of the concrete trusses into the
Support and almost 10.00m at the gable points of the exposure windows of the roof construction. Extensive investigations were carried out on the existing structure in order to find out the insufficiently documented properties of the concrete and reinforcement. For relevant trades, the report of these investigations is enclosed with the bill of quantities (part of the tender documents).
In the culture refinery, mullion-transom constructions made of steel and aluminum with door systems, fixed glazing, raw frame doors
made of aluminium and steel.
