FMG intends to carry out a flat roof renovation of the aircraft maintenance building Hangar 4 at Munich Airport, Wartungsallee. According to the budget, the renovation measure is scheduled to start in spring 2024 and be carried out by the end of 2025.
The scope of the renovation includes the hall roof of Hangar 4, with a rectangular floor plan and approx. 13,0000 m² of space. The flat roof has an approximate height above ground level of about 32 m. The roof area is divided in the southern area by an approx. 153m long, continuous light strip. In the southern area is the maintenance aisle. On the main roof surface, approx. 70 SHEV flaps are arranged at regular intervals. In the course of the roof surface renovation, the attachments of the SHEVs are to be replaced and adapted to the new fire protection concept.
The building is located in the security area of the airport, and is currently used by an airline as a maintenance hangar for regular maintenance and repair of aircraft. During the construction period, the airline will clear the hall so that the work can be carried out undisturbed. The surrounding buildings, including the adjacent office extensions, are in regular operation, in some cases around the clock. There is operational traffic on the roads around the building. To the south of the hall is the apron.
