With the Children's and Youth Theatre, Frankfurt is planning a cultural institution in the classicist, partly. listed Zoogesellschaftshaus (ZGH) in need of renovation - with premises for administration, zoo school etc. Architectural competition decided in July 2021; VgV procedure is currently underway.

For children and young people, regardless of their respective backgrounds, it is necessary to be introduced to the performing arts as early as possible: On the one hand, to experience cultural participation; this strengthens their self-confidence and sense of belonging. On the other hand, to get to know the possibilities of performing play, dance, physical and linguistic expression as a rich cultural tradition that invites identification. Experience shows that early artistic experiences literally burn themselves into the memory and can positively influence the whole of life.

A needs analysis has shown that it is necessary to set up an independent theatre for children and young people in Frankfurt, especially against the backdrop of the city's steadily increasing population. The zoo community house has been underused and in need of renovation for years. The studies have shown that a multifunctional, up-to-date pedagogical standards center for children's and youth theatre designed in accordance with participatory design can be accommodated there. In this way, the zoo community house is reactivated and made accessible to the public again. In addition to the children's and youth theatre, areas are to be created for the administration of the zoological garden, a zoo school and presentation areas on nature conservation and biodiversity.

A corresponding architectural competition was launched in the first half of 2021 and decided in July 2021. The negotiated procedure for the award of the property planning for buildings and interiors has been completed. Specialist planner awards for the technical equipment are currently underway.

A special focus of this construction task is on the sound insulation of the individual operating areas among each other. This planning goal must also be taken into account at an early stage in the conception of structural design and building physics (application areas of thermal insulation and energy balancing, building acoustics and the additional special performance of the construction noise concept). This applies not only to the acoustic separation between the operating areas of zoo administration/zoo school to children's and youth theatre, but also to various areas in the children's and youth theatre itself, such as the theatre halls among themselves, the theatre halls from the public public areas and the workshops, etc.

The aim is to achieve a low-technology approach in the conceptual development of all technical systems of the house in order to ensure the highest possible user-friendliness and error-friendliness for later operation as well as the lowest possible operating costs, especially with regard to the maintenance of these systems required later.

Scope of services: Basic services of the service phases 1-6 according to § 51 in conjunction with Annex 14 number 14.1 HOAI 2021 as well as special services of the service phases 3 and 8 according to .dem performance profile, Annex 1 to the HOAI contract (was sent as an annex to this announcement) for the structural design according to § 49 para. 1 of the HOAI 2021

Project period: expected 01.11.2022 to 31.12.2027

Project costs: KG 300-400 €20.4 million net

Preliminary eligible costs for structural design in accordance with § 49 (1) HOAI 2021: € 10.825 million net

Gradual commissioning is planned. The individual project levels are called up successively as the project progresses. If the client decides that the project will be ended after the completion of a project stage, there will be no further call. The contractor is not entitled to call up further project levels.
