The Ministry of Education and Research has been assigning the project ‘Testing and research of models for a more inclusive practise in nurseries, schools and before- and after-school care services’ to the Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training. It is described in the assignment letter 17-19 Pilots for more inclusive practices in nurseries, schools and before- and after-school care services — part 2: testing and research on models. The objective of this assignment is to gather additional knowledge on how the service for children and youths in nurseries and schools/before- and after-school care services can be improved so that it is well adapted and inclusive for all children and pupils, including strengthening the service for children and pupils in need of special facilitation.

In other words, this includes both the general pedagogical and the special pedagogical service. The Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training is therefore publishing this assignment regarding funding of research for the systematic testing of specific models to achieve this goal. The research shall examine the effect of the models for the well-being, development, learning, coping, childhood and learning environment and/or inclusion of children and pupils, primarily for nurseries and schools, and secondary for the before- and after-school care service. The objective of the research assignment is to provide reliable knowledge that can be used for future policy development.
