The laboratory is the national competence centre for medicine analyses and its main job is to check medicines that are sold in Norway. We shall identify the active ingredients, degradable products from these, analogue and new synthetic organic compounds that have biological effect. In order to fulfil the existing and future requirements for quality checks, it is necessary to use advanced analysis technology. The laboratory would like to purchase a mass spectrometer with with high resolution, precision and sensitivity to analyse, quantify and sequence biological macro molecules with the accompanying problems. Mass spectrometrical analysis of biological and chemical molecules that include 'biosimilars', counterfeit and narcotics derivatives depend on very good analytical separation by using existing high resolution fluid chromatograph (UHPLC) connected to a HRMS detector.
