Description:
Further development of MIKA-Game to promote media and IT competence Further development of MIKA-Game to promote media and IT competence

Subject matter of the contract/ type and scope of the service

The graphical, content-related and technical development for the further development of the outlined learning game (MIKA-Game),

Detailed description of the services to be provided, including, but not limited to:

(1) Research, formulation and provision of at least 200 entertaining, appealing and up-to-date quiz questions, each with four possible answers (one correct, three wrong) plus justification for the six MIKA topics a) understanding the digital world, b) protecting data and acting securely, c) communicating and cooperating, d) searching for and processing content, e) creating and sharing content and f) feedback & reflection (https://mika.foraus.de). In addition, the quiz questions and answers are intended to flank the standard job description position of the digitized world of work, partly linked to that of environmental protection and sustainability https://www.bibb.de/de/134898.php). In total, the expansion of the question and answer pool must include at least 1200 questions with answers plus justification, i.e. at least 200 questions and answers per MIKA topic (https://mika.foraus.de). The questions and answers provided must not duplicate the current Q&A pool. This also applies to the questionnaire of the simulation games to be developed in parallel for the new four standard job description positions. All information will be made available to the client after the contract has been awarded. The transfer of the new questions and answers take place in Excel. The template will be made available to the contractor after the contract has been awarded. The examination of the content according to (scientific and/or journalistic) quality criteria is part of the service to be provided. The underlying sources must be made transparent for the sake of traceability and must be proven for each question and answer composition (e.g. as a link in the Excel spreadsheet). The final proofreading of all texts provided (e.g. The list of questions and answers plus texts of the web browser version and/or changes in the application) follow the guidelines of the Duden and BIBB on gender-appropriate language. The latter will be made available to the contractor after the contract has been awarded.

(2) Development of a fully functional web browser version of the educational game MIKA-Game for the playful teaching of media and IT competence based on the MIKA topics a) understanding the digital world, b) protecting data and acting securely, c) communicating and cooperating, d) searching for and processing content, e) creating and sharing content and f) feedback & reflection (https://mika.foraus.de) based on the above description (see point 1). For the expansion of the pool of questions and answers, the standard job description position of the digitized world of work, partly linked to that of environmental protection and sustainability, must be taken into account (https://www.bibb.de/de/134898.php). The calculation of the maintenance costs (maintenance effort without system extension) for both the web browser version and the MIKA-Game application (iOS and Android) are part of the order until 31.12.2024 and must be taken into account in the calculation.

(3) Extension of the back-end logic for an interoperable use of the MIKA game with other BIBB applications still to be developed (leando.de).

(4) Extension of the existing application programming interface (API) for the migration of thematically related contents of the question and answer pool into a BIBB application that has yet to be developed. The aim is to make multiple use of the question and answer pool with other BIBB applications that have yet to be developed (leando.de). In the future, therefore, the integration of the question pool in ILIAS for synergetic optimisation into a BIBB application that has yet to be developed is being considered in the sense of interoperable use of the questionnaire and answer catalogue (leando.de).

(5) Extension of the existing community features to include the possibility to design questions yourself as a registered user. These can only be used in their own administered teams or classrooms and are not added to the existing question and answer pool. In addition, administrators can assign the admin function to other players in team mode.

(6) Development of four new question formats such as picture puzzles, sound puzzles, matching questions, puzzles or others. The questions and answers to be provided under point (1) already take these four new formats into account and are to be developed accordingly.

(7) Connection of the web browser version to the existing SSO interface (Keycloak) for extended user administration on the existing MIKA campus (https://mika.foraus.de).

(8) The web browser version of the MIKA game is to be created on an established game engine. The choice of technology, programming language or frameworks is to be chosen according to the already developed functions. The flawless performance of the user experience/usability of the MIKA game must be guaranteed in the long term. A monetization strategy for the MIKA game is currently not being considered.

(9) Transfer of all existing functions such as login, profile, status, personalized login, avatar editor, high score, multiplayer/single player, etc. must also be mapped in the web browser version to be developed.

(10) Graphical new/further development of the web browser version in the sense of an intuitive and graphically appealing gaming experience (web browser version MI-KA-Game) including adapted design according to CI concept (already implemented: https://mika.foraus.de; cf. Appendix 1 - CI concept, MIKA).

(11) The hosting and support of the MIKA game during operation is to be calculated depending on the users: Currently, it is assumed that a maximum of 100 users play the MIKA game at the same time. According to current estimates, plus minus 2500 registered users can be expected for 2023. The cost of hosting the MIKA game until the end of 2024 is part of the contract.

(12) Calculation of the hosting volume for updating and incorrect surveys of the MIKA-Game application by the end of 2024 is part of the contract.

(13) The purchase of a suitable domain, e.g. mika-game.de is part of the mission.

2.2) Optional service:

As an optional service and any additional work that may arise, which cannot yet be described in detail at this point in time, there will be further technical, content-related or graphic work to be defined at a later date. This work is carried out to the extent of a maximum of 30 daily rates. The calculation of this optional service must be attached to the calculation of the total costs, but must be presented exclusively and separately as an optional service. If the optional service has to be used during the execution of the order, this agreement shall be expressly made by the contracting authority (BIBB) in writing, e.g. by e-mail.
