In the course of the new construction of the EÜ Bregenzer Straße in Lindau, the road was expanded with drainage systems on the EÜ Bregenzer Straße with the bleaching intersection adjusted to the new traffic conditions, the construction of a new traffic light system, the conversion of the loading street, the installation of temporary traffic routing, the construction of new pedestrian and cycle paths, and street equipment Signage and marking, equipment of a pump system.

In order to increase safety taking into account the foreseeable traffic development and the trouble-free handling of traffic, the removal of the two level crossings (BÜ) Langenweg (new name: Inselstraße) and Bregenzer Straße in Lindau (Lake Constance) has already been carried out. The level crossing was replaced by a height-free crossing structure in the first sub-project with completion in 2018. This new underpass Inselstraße is the main access to the old town area Lindau-Insel for road traffic as well as bicycle and pedestrian traffic from the western area. The replacement of the Bregenzer Strasse level crossing will be completed in a current construction project with completion in July 2020. This new underpass on Bregenzer Straße is intended as a side access to the old town area of Lindau Island only for bicycle and pedestrian traffic from the eastern area and as an escape route. The construction project will be carried out in 2 construction phases 1 in autumn 2020 and 2 in spring 2021.

As part of this measure, the underpass in Bregenzer Strasse, which was already under construction, is to be expanded and integrated into the existing transport network. The loading road (south of the underpass) will be renewed in the area of the transition from Bregenzer Strasse to the end of the construction site near the old railway interlocking. In addition to the road construction work, the new underpass also includes the civil engineering (building drainage and lighting), civil engineering (mechanical engineering pump station) and landscaping trades. On the Bregenzer Straße (north of the underpass), only the superstructure should be renewed in the area from the Kolpingstraße transition to Bregenzer Straße in the area of the old building up to the construction limit. In the area of the new road surface as well as the bicycle and footpath south of Bregenzer Straße, the road and path construction is to be created again. The bleaching intersection receives a new superstructure in the bleaching path until the end of the construction limit and the traffic light system in the intersection area is completely renewed. The scope of this traffic light system is expanded to the junction from Kolpingstrasse into Schoblochweg, which is further west outside the construction site.
