With the Ministerial Decree of 7 June 2000 laying down minimum standards for keeping birds in zoos, the minimum standards for keeping birds in zoos are more than 20 years old. They no longer correspond to the scientific insights regarding the welfare of birds

and social expectations in this area.

The purpose of this assignment is to arrive at a proposal to amend the aforementioned ministerial decree. The main objective of the proposal is to achieve minimum standards that ensure positive well-being for

birds in zoos preferably guarantee and at least make them possible.
