The College has developed outline plans for the phased replacement of approximately 7 800 m2 of 1960/70's building at their New Bedford Road Campus. Subject to funding the current proposal is to construct the new building in two main phases, with 5 000 m2 of new building being constructed as the first main phase, with the remaining 2 800 m2 following immediately thereafter. There will also be sub-phases of enabling and other works associated with a major project at an occupied college campus. The selected contractor will be responsible for the completion of the design of the works (from commencement of RIBA Stage E or F) using the services of the existing design team which will be novated to the contractor, and for the construction of the works.
The works will be procured via a 2 stage design and build contract procurement route, and the proposed contract to be used is the JCT Design and Build Contract 2011.
