The Requirement

The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) has various workshops for the service, repair and inspection of MPS motor vehicles (including motorcycles), and marine craft. For this reason the supply, delivery, installation, service, repair and calibration of workshop equipment and consumables is required to assist with this function.

Whilst this contract is being set up for MPS Transport Services Vehicle workshops, (this also includes a Boat workshop) and Vehicle Recovery and Examination Services sites (Vehicle Pounds) other departments and users within the MPS may also require items/services from this contract.

The requirement is broken down into the following three Lots ((which may be tendered as individual Lots and/or combinations) including but not limited to

Lot 1

The Supply, Delivery and Installation of Vehicle Workshop Plant and Equipment

The supply, delivery and installation of vehicle workshop plant and equipment e.g. four/two poster vehicle ramps, vehicle alignment jigs, fixed machinery, vehicle jacks, steam cleaner, portable generator, spot welder, air conditioning charge unit, welding equipment, etc.

Please note that this list is to provide examples and does not cover the full requirement. The requirement may also include associated installation works e.g. site surveys prior to installation, electrical wiring for the new equipment to be provided, testing and certification, commissioning and load certification etc.

The MPS may also ask for associated training / familiarisation to be provided for the new equipment supplied where applicable.

In addition the requirement may also include movement of existing equipment around the workshop and between workshops or other sites when required by the MPS.

The Supply and Delivery of Vehicle, Vehicle Workshop, Vehicle Pound and related Training

— Vehicle refinishing training

— General diagnostic equipment training

— Air conditioning training

— Electrical training

— Garage/workshop equipment training

— Welding training and accreditation

— Stores/office personnel training

— Technical qualification training

Please note that the MPS, for some vehicle / equipment training requirements, will require training from the Original Equipment Manufacturer, therefore the successful supplier for this Lot will not have exclusivity of supply.

Lot 3

The Supply and Delivery of Vehicle Paint and Associated Consumables

The supply and delivery of vehicle paint and associated consumables for both vehicles and workshop areas, e.g. water based two pack & cellulose paints, tinter, base, hardener, lacquer, thinner, body filler, spray guns, aerosols and paints, primers, masking tape, sanding discs, sanding paper, brushes, etc.

Please note that associated paint mixing equipment, associated software, and training will also be required within this Lot.
