The city of Warendorf intends to build a new building complex on the site of the former premises of the Breede weaving mill in the Freckenhorst district to accommodate the volunteer fire brigade, which meets the spatial and technical requirements of a modern fire service. In addition to the building equipment specially required for the fire brigade, great attention is paid to the energy-efficient system technology. According to a resolution of the council of the city of Warendorf, all municipal buildings are to be operated CO2-neutral by 2030. The architect checks whether the existing shed roof construction at the site can be preserved and integrated into future use.
The new fire station is to be designed for a complete extinguishing train with 85 - 100 firefighters, 6 vehicles and 2 trailers. This includes the vehicle parking spaces, changing rooms and sanitary facilities, as well as training rooms and other ancillary rooms. The interests of a youth fire brigade, which is currently housed in an outbuilding, must be taken into account if necessary.
