As part of the implementation of the EU WFD in the area of the Lippe, the planning of the ecological redesign of the Gartrop and "Bieber-Aap" sections of water from km 17.4 - km 19.7 in the district of Wesel is to be carried out. On the approximately 2.3 km long section, a southern and a northern extension, a flood channel as well as widening of the Lippe and other measures in the Lippe floodplain are planned for about 1.2 km. The measures are intended to improve flow dynamics and water structures as well as structures in the floodplain. The scope of services also includes the examination of supplementary hydraulic engineering measures in the floodplain, such as the creation of flood troughs, standing waters, ponds, etc.
