The UTa intervention contract consists of the implementation of Non-Destructive Examination services carried out on the equipment of pressurized water reactor (PWR) power plants.

The services to be implemented consist of volume examination programs intended, in particular, to search for cracking in the inner wall of welds in the context of a technical hazard affecting EDF power plants. The perimeter of the areas to be examined concerns the welds of the auxiliary pipes of the Main Primary Circuit (CPP).

The services cover operations carried out using the following techniques: Ultrasonic thickness measurements (UTmep) and enhanced ultrasound (UTa).

Industrial radiography (RT), ultrasound (UT) techniques for defect detection can be implemented optionally.

RT and UT services are optional technical options of this Contract.

The services covered by this contract are carried out during the shutdowns or, under conditions, in a unit in operation. They are carried out on Equipment classified as Important for the Protection of Interests (EIPS) or not, according to the INB decree (decree laying down the general rules relating to basic nuclear installations of 7 February 2012), in a controlled zone or outside the controlled zone in accordance with the prescriptive maintenance documents and according to the List of Elementary Activities (LAE) established upstream of each intervention.
