Every other year the Norwegian Media Authority carries out two major surveys on the digital media habits of children and youths, one amongst children and youths and one amongst parents. In addition there can be other, minor surveys within the field.
The aim of the surveys is to get an overall presentation of children and youths' use of different digital media. On a general level this includes children and youths' digital participation, competence, and judgement, in addition to parents' participation and regulation of children and youths' daily media life. Within these problems the surveys map, amongst other things, media habits (social media, gaming, TV), negative experiences (bullying, unwanted sexual comments), criticism to sources, and attitudes to media regulation.
