The purpose of the Contract is to obtain biological information on the conservation status of the priority species of threatened fauna that are part of the catalog of threatened species in the Region of Murcia and the rest of the species of fauna protected by regional, national and community legislation in this matter. These works are framed in the requirements and obligations that the Autonomous Communities have recognized in the field of their autonomous competences and that must be carried out by the General Directorate of the Natural Environment.

The general objectives of the service contract are as follows:

1. Keep updated the indicator parameters of the conservation status of the most threatened species of wild fauna in the Region of Murcia; 2. Have basic information on which to base the reports and actions on biodiversity that are the responsibility of the service and, specifically, for the preparation of recovery, conservation and management plans established by legislation; 3. Comply with the information requirements on the state of conservation of biodiversity of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia in the national and European databases on species of fauna in the Region of Murcia of the annexes of the Directives of Birds and Habitats and the List of Species in Special Protection Regime that includes the Spanish Catalogue of Threatened Species; 4. Transfer information on priority species to other services of the Directorate-General in the areas of planning and management of protected areas; 5. Promote the most appropriate measures and solutions to address the main threat factors affecting these species; 6. Dissemination of the results of the census program and the surveillance of protected fauna species in the Region of Murcia.
