Description:

The first public CCTV cameras in Herefordshire were installed in the early and mid 1990's. In 2003 a dedicated ‘state-of-the-art' CCTV Control room was designed and installed in council premises in Hereford City.

There are currently 40 cameras across the Herefordshire CCTV partnership operating in Hereford City (23), in Ledbury (5), in Leominster (6) and in Ross-on-Wye (6).

The primary purpose of the scheme is to provide community reassurance, and to assist in the prevention, reduction and detection of crime, disorder, and anti-social behaviour, albeit CCTV also supports other community safety ambitions.

Herefordshire Council requires a proactive monitoring service for approximately 70 hours per week at key agreed times.

Duties will include proactively monitoring public space CCTV cameras across the county, carrying out reviews of stored images relating to police investigations, providing footage to agreed guidelines and under the DPA 1998, liaise between retailers, licensees, Herefordshire Council officers and police officers.
