The assignment is a part of IMDi's ongoing development work with the resettlement of refugees, including the development and facilitation of practices that, within the frameworks of the existing resettlement model, enables the municipality to meet the increased housing needs.

The assignment's general aim is to improve knowledge on agreed self housing, including knowledge on the extent and practices of this form of resettlement. The assignment shall also examine and analyse the consequences of the agreed self housing.

The research assignment shall recommend how a scheme with agreed self housing for refugees can be practised and further developed on a state and municipal level in the best way.

By also including non-agreed self housing in part 2 of the assignment, the assignment shall provide a general analysis of and policy discussion on these forms of resettlement.
