Scanning electron microscope with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDX)
The required scanning electron microscope is a SEM-EDX system for the food sector of the future. The tender covers only the procurement of new equipment.
In the course of the project, the primary aim is to develop meat analogues using extrusion technology and plant-based proteins. The FOCUS of the SEM analyses will be on the structural elucidation of the extrudates, but also on the chemical composition of the cutting surfaces. In turn, the process parameters on the extruder can be modified in order to have a targeted influence on the quality of the end products.
For the SEM-EDX plant, it follows that the sample material to be analyzed can be described as organic, water-containing, fatty and almost non-conductive. In addition, it can also lead to the analysis of already dried foods. This results in the need for low vacuum operation as an additive to high vacuum operation in order to avoid structural changes to the sample material in sample preparation.
