The Steinhof sewage treatment plant and the connected pumping stations are controlled by IoT systems. For this purpose, there is a Microsoft Active Directory ("ADS") based on physical infrastructure. PCS7 version 8 from Siemens is used in terms of control technology and is installed on servers, as is data management using Videc-Acron.

In the course of the complete renewal of the underlying IT infrastructure, the existing clients and servers are to be virtualized, as well as the PCS7 system is to be renewed to version 9.1. For this purpose, powerful hosts are to be procured, on which the virtual servers and clients can then be operated. The infrastructure is secured by firewalls, which must also be completely renewed.
