The intent of an EU wide ‘Foresight’ study on (re)-emerging infectious disease could help to: identify and prioritise areas for ECDC and Member State actions (in terms of policy development and longer term public health planning); identify existing synergies and gaps in public health preparedness; identify priorities for training and workforce development; and identify specific follow-up applied research questions.
