Beaumont-Hamel Newfoundland Memorial: Modernization of the HVAC System

The Newfoundland Memorial building in Beaumont-Hamel is located at Rue de l’Église, 80300 BEAUMONT-HAMEL. The heating, air conditioning and ventilation facilities in the Newfoundland Memorial building require upgrading. The building has a total surface area of approximately 370 m², with an average ceiling height of 4 m, which equates to an overall volume of approximately 1,480 m3. The Memorial is a Category 5, Type Y building open to the public with four staff members and a maximum capacity of 50 visitors.

Contracting Authority: Verena Kremers (Verena.Kremers@tpsgc-pwgsc.gc.ca)

A bid package (French or English) can be obtained by contacting the Contracting Authority.

A mandatory site visit will be conducted on 7 June 2023.

The Contractor must review a study created by a consultant and validate the technical solution chosen by the customer, which includes replacing the direct methods of producing electricity (boiler and electric battery for the air handling unit) with a reversible heat pump (RHP), and installing a dual-flow air handling unit (AHU) with energy recovery.

The engineer must ensure that the air conditioning and heating equipment is an appropriate size, has adequate capacity modulation, with zoning and thermostatic control to ensure thermal comfort in all spaces according to ASHRAE Standard 55-2020 or equivalent. Special attention will need to be paid to the administrative sector and to the significant increase in heat caused by the sun shining through the glass roof compared to the other zones served by the same system.
