The University intends to set up a ranked framework agreement, to appoint a panel of firms to provide Architectural and CDM Co-ordinator services on a number of projects varying in size and complexity. The first-ranked firm in the eventual agreement will have first option on each project, followed by the second-ranked, then by the third. The Architect would be expected to act as lead consultant and co-ordinate the remainder of the design team, which would be appointed by the University on a project-by-project basis.
The majority of the planned Small Capital projects are implemented over the summer vacation period (May-September), although some projects will be carried out at other times where there is an urgent need for them, or where the work will not impact on the University's business. Small Capital projects tend to be of a contract value between 150k GBP — 1 m GBP, although smaller projects are tendered as low as 20k GBP. The Architect may also be involved in feasibility studies / general advice, etc. which can be charged for on an hourly basis.
