Purpose of the assignment

Mapping of various risk areas for field run-off via drain trenches/pipes in Flevoland;

Gaining practical experience at plot level with various types of infiltration trenches with indirect overflow as an alternative to drain trenches/pipes in the various risk areas;

Monitoring the difference in water discharge to the ditch and the water quality (concentrations gbm and fertilizers) between drain trenches/pipes and infiltration trenches with indirect overflow;

Working with farmers to develop practical, effective types of infiltration trenches as an alternative to drain trenches/pipes;

Dissemination of knowledge about promising infiltration trenches as an alternative to drain trenches/pipes among Flevoland farmers and consultants.
