The Traffic Information Centre (VIZ) Berlin has a modern system for automatic traffic situation calculation. In Berlin, the traffic situation calculation for a road network of approx. 3,105 km (direction-related) is currently being carried out. For this network, prepared floating car data (FCD) for traffic information, control and planning are to be provided.

In order to be able to map a cross-border traffic situation in the Berlin-Brandenburg intertwined area, important road network connections between the states of Berlin and Brandenburg must be included. Therefore, in Brandenburg, the intertwining area with Berlin, i.e. the adjacent main roads (about 833 km directional) should also be detected.
